Mariner's Chart is a large detached Edwardian house which originally
directly faced the sea. Although the property is now one road back
from Falmouth Sea Front, the luxury maisonette apartment available
for holiday let still has delightful sea views. The position of
the house is such that the Queen Mary Rock Gardens and Princess
Pavilion and the magnificent Blue Flag beaches are just a step away.
Princess Pavilion provides free entertainment in its lovely gardens
on most summer evenings. There are no parking restrictions in the
road and it is an easy walk into Falmouth Town Centre offering multiple
shops (Marks & Spencer), restaurants and pubs.
The Gyllyngvase Beach area is really beautiful and enjoys the micro-climate
associated with the area hosting many exotic trees, shrubs and flowers.
The beaches are safe and Blue Flag clean with rock pools at Castle
Beach together with sand and swimming at Gyllyngvase Beach. A short
walk around the coast path brings you to Swanpool Beach with various
boats for hire, surfing, clock golf and a Nature Reserve.
Falmouth is a major port attracting international shipping and
the two main quaysides are a great spot to watch all the activity
in the harbour area. There are numerous boat trips available including
ferries over to St Mawes on the lovely, tranquil Roseland Peninsula
together with trips up the River Fal to the county town of Truro.
Falmouth is also only a 40 minute drive from St Ives with all its
artistic traditions and a branch of the Tate Gallery, together with
numerous other small galleries and working artists.
Falmouth has a long maritime tradition dating back to the days
of the tea clippers and there are regular marine events staged throughout
the season ranging from gig and yacht racing to races between the
local gaff rigged working boats. As a result of this long tradition,
Falmouth has a branch of the National Maritime Museum located by
the harbour. This is a truly excellent facility with a wide range
of exhibits together with cafe, shop and observation tower overlooking
the town and harbour. During September 2008 Falmouth will once again
be hosting the spectacular Tall Ships Race. On the day of the race
there will be a parade of sail across Falmouth Bay with panoramic
views of the event available from Mariner's Chart.
